Sinclair Paying $9M In Employee Bonuses

Sinclair Broadcast Group said today that, as a result of tax reform legislation, it will pay a special $1,000 bonus to almost 9,000 full-time and part-time regular employees at all of its stations and subsidiaries, excluding senior level executives. “We are grateful to our president and legislature for passing the landmark Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and are excited about the benefits it will provide for our country’s economy, our company, and our employees,” said CEO Chris Ripley.

I’m happy for the 9000 employees receiving the bonus. For you folks at Tribune, don’t get your hopes up for next year. This is a ploy to make Sinclair look good. (#goldplatedturd)

Awkward! Comcast is also giving out 1000 dollar bonuses to its employees because of the Trump tax reform. This includes all those Trump haters at NBC/MSNBC. What will they do with their “tainted” windfall? Oh, the moral dilemma of it!

why bis this news? most stations give a week or two salary as Bonus anyway. So lets say Sinclair normally gives an average of $500 – so in actuality it’s only an additional $500 bonus. #Fake News, #why is this news, # who cares

BTW bestyrever- if a lame $1,000 bonus is your excuse of rattling pots and pans together – our economy is doomed. yeah it’s better than a monthly planner or pen and pencil set if you’re working at McDonalds, but as far as TV in most major markets – $1,000 is on the low end of the food chain

Will somebody please explain to me how bonuses will create jobs? That’s all that Trump promised in his “big, beautiful tax bill.” Jobs, jobs. jobs. If you already got a job, how will a bonus create one?

The bigger question here is whether this company and others who’ve ridden the P.R. wave of the recent tax bill will do this next year and the next year, etc. Likely not, even though they’ll get a permanent windfall of profits by paying lower corporate taxes. Actually, the more pertinent question is whether the tax changes will really translate into more jobs, as others are asking.

When people are given money or hold on to the money they earn (not the govt), they tend to go out and spend it on something or knock down some debt. The fact is, $9M is going to 9000 employees. That is a good thing. It amazes me that corporations reducing taxes to 21% freaks liberals out. They have been brainwashed over the years to think that the government should just take peoples hard earned money.

Not a big fan of Donald Trump tax cuts is a good thing which I supported and it’s a good what these companies are doing giving back to the workers as they said they would if the tax cuts were going to happen. Good for Sinclair I hope the others in broadcasting do the same as well.

Yes just trying to shame them in to it. Come on Hilton and the Robinson family spread a little cheer with the Gray family!

Tax Cut is just shuffling debt from one place to another. instead of the National Debt at 20 Trillion – it’s now 21.5 Trillion. why doesn’t the Govt. pay down it’s own debt EagleEye? yeah, now our kids have to worry about the ever-growing National Debt. on top of student loans. If it ain’t broke – don’t fix it, they should have laid off any tax break.
