The regional cable network will produce sports for the NBC O&O's newscasts starting in January, expanding on their existing joint efforts. Both the network and the station are units of Comcast.

SportsNet To Provide Sports News To WCAU
In the latest example of intra-corporate cooperation between WCAU Philadelphia and Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia, the regional sports network will produce complete sports coverage for the NBC O&Os’ newscasts, providing access to coaches, players and other sports figures in Philadelphia and elsewhere, the two units of Philadelphia-based Comcast announced this evening.
“NBC10 is proud to be working with Comcast SportsNet,” said WCAU GM Eric Lerner, in a statement. “We’re committed to finding creative ways to work with CSN and feel strongly that this unique collaboration will provide passionate Philadelphia sports fans with the best sports coverage in the market.”
Comcast SportsNet President Brian Monihan said combining Comcast SportsNet sports coverage with station’s “extensive local news, weather and national sports allows us connect more broadly with Philadelphia fans, who have an insatiable appetite for news and insights on their hometown teams.”
Other elements of the cooperation between the two:
–WCAU reporters will continue to contribute to Comcast SportsNet’s sports coverage on Philly Sports Talk, SportsNite, Full Contact and other programs.
–WCAU sports director Vai Sikahema will cover the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, for WCAU and Comcast SportsNet, focusing on local athletes. NBC is broadcasting the games nationally starting Feb. 6.

–CSNPhilly.com will continue to provide content for NBC10.com’s sports section.
–WCAU meteorologists Sheena Parveen and Glenn Schwartz will continue to provide weather forecasts for Comcast SportsNet’s on-air and online daily sports coverage.
–WCAU’s High School Blitz program, now wrapping up it’s debut season, will continue in the fall of 2014 as a joint effort with Comcast SportsNet. High School Blitz currently airs on WCAU, Comcast SportsNet and The Comcast Network.
