Vanessa Murdock Joins WCBS New York

Vanessa Murdock has been named weekend morning meteorologist and weekday reporter at CBS O&O WCBS New York, it was announced by David Friend, senior vice president, news, CBS Television Stations, and news director, WCBS. Murdock will officially join the station on Oct. 10.

A Certified Broadcast Meteorologist and member of the American Meteorological Society and National Weather Association, Murdock is joining WCBS after having been a staff meteorologist and reporter for WTKR Norfolk, Va., since November 2006. In addition, she has served as an adjunct instructor of meteorology at Virginia Wesleyan College since July 2007.

Murdock earned her bachelor’s degree in ecology and evolutionary biology from the University of Rochester, then received her Master of Science degree in meteorology from Penn State.

She began her broadcast meteorology career with the CBS, ABC and Fox affiliates in Charlottesville, Va.
