Viz Opus Offers Alternative Control Room Setup
Simplifying control room operations by offering an all-in-one alternative to the traditional combination of production switcher, graphics and other related functions is the goal behind the newly announced Viz Opus from Vizrt.
At a press conference today at IBC 2014 in Amsterdam, the company unveiled the system, which it says offers a cost-effective alternative to the traditional control room setup.
Combining Vizrt’s graphics rendering, video playout and studio automation capabilities Viz Opus has four HD-SDI inputs, two IP inputs, a single HD-SDI/IP program output as well as an HD-SDI/IP multiviewer output.
Besides production switcher functions, Viz Opus will play back clips back-to-back. It offers integrated audio mixing and interfaces with existing newsroom computer workflows so that rundowns built in ENPS, iNews, Octopus, Dalet News, Annova OpenMedia and NorCom can be interpreted to create a rundown to be used by the system.
“It’s a leap downwards with regards to cost and a jump up in terms of production simplification, but simplification as in workflow and hardware needs,” said Petter Ole Jakobsen, Vizrt CTO.
