WBNS Columbus GM Griesdorn To Retire

Tom Griesdorn, head of Dispatch's CBS affiliate since 1999, says he will step down at the end of May.

Tom Griesdorn, president-general manager of CBS affiliate WBNS Columbus, Ohio (DMA 32), and chief revenue officer of parent The Dispatch Printing Co., announced his intention to retire on Friday, May 31. Griesdorn has led the station since 1999.

Griesdorn began his broadcasting career as the manager of sales and financial controls at WLS Chicago.

Following WLS, he moved to Detroit’s WXYZ, where he eventually was promoted to general manager.  

The native of Maria Stein, Ohio, returned to his home state of Ohio in 1995 when he became VP-GM of WOIO-WUAB Cleveland.

Griesdorn, who is a graduate of The Ohio State University, currently serves as chairman of the Ohio Association of Broadcasters.
