WBNS Expands Early Morning News

The Columbus, Ohio, CBS affiliate will add a new weekday newscast beginning at 4:25 a.m. beginning Jan. 3.

Dispatch Broadcast Group’s WBNS Columbus, Ohio (DMA 34), will expand its early morning news lineup with an additional 30-minute newscast that will begin each weekday at 4:25 a.m.

“These changes are in response to viewer feedback and shifting viewing patterns,” said WBNS Director of News Elbert Tucker.

The earlier broadcast of 10TV HD News premieres Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, and will be anchored by Jeff Hogan and Angela An, who have also been announced as the station’s new morning team. Hogan and An will be joined each morning by meteorologist Mike Davis and reporter Karina Nova, who will focus on the traffic forecast.

In addition, Tracy Townsend will anchor 10TV News HD @ Noon on weekdays, along with Davis. All other anchor assignments will remain the same.

Here’s the simple reason that many tv news stations lack credibility in the minds of viewers: the majority of people aren’t stupid enough to believe the comments coming from people like the news director here. We all know it’s not about people wanting a 4 or a 430am newscast, it’s about the station increasing their bottom line.

Why is Channel 10 replacing Strickler and Hamper? Are they leaving the station? Didn’t Hamper just get there?

How did I miss this! It is to bad that Strickler and Hamper is gone from the weekday morning news,
