WCBS Ups Rob Morrison To Morning Co-Anchor

Rob Morrison today was named co-anchor of the weekday editions of CBS 2 News This Morning at CBS’s New York O&O WCBS. Morrison, who has anchored the station’s weekend morning and evening newscasts since 2009, will begin co-anchoring the station’s weekday 4:30-7 a.m. and noon newscasts on Monday, Jan. 3.

Morrison will succeed Maurice DuBois, who earlier this month was named co-anchor of WCBS’s weeknight 5 and 11 p.m. newscasts.

Morrison has more than 20 years of experience as an anchor and reporter. Prior to joining WCBS last year, he spent nearly 10 years with WNBC New York, where he co-anchored Today in New York. While at NBC, he also made regular appearances on the network’s Weekend Today as well as on MSNBC.

Morrison began his career in broadcasting as a combat correspondent, radio disc jockey, anchor and reporter while serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in Okinawa, Japan, in the early 1990s. After returning to the United States, he worked for WGMC Worcester, Mass.; WWLP Springfield, Mass.; and WVIT Hartford, Conn., before moving to New York.

He’s apparently getting a test run, so to speak. He was anchoring their morning news today. Smart move by WCBS, IMO.
