Weigel Taps Mark Strachota In Milwaukee

The former GM of Time Warner Cable SportsChannel as well as WTMJ in the market will oversee CBS affiliate WDJT and Telemundo affil WYTU as well as numerous subchannels.

Weigel Broadcasting Co. announced today the appointment of veteran Milwaukee broadcaster Mark Strachota as vice president and general manager of its Milwaukee properties. He will have oversight of Weigel’s WDJT (CBS), independent WMLW, WYTU-LD (Telemundo), WBME (Me-TV) and various subchannels including MOVIES!, This TV, Bounce TV and TouchVision.

Strachota replaces Jim Hall who was appointed VP of business development for parent Weigel Broadcasting. He will begin his new duties on March 12.

Strachota currently is general manager of Time Warner Cable SportsChannel. Prior to that, he spent 28 years with Journal Broadcast Group’s WTMJ Milwaukee, starting as an account executive. He advanced through management roles at WTMJ, first as national sales manager and then as general sales manager. Strachota served as WTMJ-TV’s vice president and general manager from 2003 through 2007.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in business administration/marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

“Mark is the perfect fit for our Milwaukee stations,” said Weigel Broadcasting Co. EVP of Local Media Bob Ramsey. “His leadership skills and knowledge of the Milwaukee market makes him the right person to lead our stations forward.”
