Wendy Bello Named GM Of WROC Rochester

The veteran Rochester broadcasting executive is promoted from sales director to succeed the retiring vice president-general manager Louis Gattozzi at the Nexstar station.

Nexstar Media Group today promote Wendy Bello to VP-GM of CBS affiliate WROC Rochester, N.Y. (DMA 76), and its associated digital services. Since 2011, she has been WROC’s director of sales where she was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the station’s sales department.

Bello replaces Louis Gattozzi who announced his retirement after serving Nexstar for 19 years as VP-GM in Rochester (2007-17) and Erie, Pa. (1998-2007). She will assume her new responsibilities immediately, reporting to Theresa Underwood, Nexstar Broadcasting SVP.

Bello’s broadcast career spans more than 20 years in local and national sales management, new business development and strategic planning in local broadcast television, radio and digital.

Before joining Nexstar, she was general sales manager and total traffic manager for Clear Channel Radio in Rochester. Prior to her time in radio, she was national sales manager for Fox’s WUHF Rochester.

Before that, she was regional VP-GM, East Region for iKnow.com where she directed the launch of the digital brand’s website, managing all aspects of local marketing, creative development, recruitment and sales training.

Bello started her broadcasting career with KARE Minneapolis before moving to New York to serve as account manager and regional manager for NBC Television Station Sales.

Bello earned her B.A. in advertising and public relations from the University of Minnesota College of Journalism and Mass Communications.
