WFXT Expands Morning , Weekend News

The Fox Boston O&O is adding a 4 a.m. broadcast on weekdays and a 6 p.m. newscast on Saturday and Sunday.

Fox O&O WFXT Boston (DMA 7) will wake up New Englanders a half-hour earlier weekdays at 4 a.m. and offer an hour weekend newscast at 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Effective July 9, Fox25 Morning News will start at 4 a.m., boosting its news total to six hours each weekday. Co-hosts Gene Lavanchy and Shannon Mulaire, meteorologist Cindy Fitzgibbon and commentator Doug “VB” Goudie will be joined by reporters Elizabeth Hopkins, Brett Connolly and newcomer Sorboni Banerjee. The morning show is a mix of news, weather, traffic, opinions, viewer feedback and live in-studio guests.

On July 7, the station will debut an hour newscast on Saturday and Sunday at 6 p.m. The newscast is in addition to the station’s current weekend news at 10 and 11 p.m.

With the morning and weekend expansion, WFXT News now offers 47 hours of local news a week.
