WGNtv.com Creates Online Community For Veterans

Tribune Broadcasting’s WGNtv.com is creating an online community for veterans called “Letters from the Front,” for all members of the armed forces and their families. The letters can be vintage or current, but must have been written by the service member.  Letters will be shared with everyone via WGNtv.com’s comment board and will act as a virtual museum of the soldiers’ experiences. In the week leading up to Memorial Day, WGN Chicago will present some of the stories gathered, meeting the faces and families behind the letters.

There are four ways to submit “Letters from the Front”:

  • Go to wgntv.com/letters and upload a scan of the letter
  • E-mail scanned copies of the letter to [email protected]
  • Forward a past e-mailed letter to [email protected]
  • Copies of original handwritten letters can be mailed to: WGN-TV News, Letter from the Front/Attn: Mike D’Angelo, 2501 W. Bradley Place, Chicago, IL 60618.

Along with their “letter from the front,” viewers are encouraged to send, if possible, soldier’s photo, name, branch of military, place of service, contact information, and a statement on what was happening around them during the time the letter was written.
