WJLA Establishes Investigative Unit
Sinclair-owned ABC affiliate WJLA Washington has created a new ABC7 On-Your-Side investigative unit. The 7 On-Your-Side team will provide advocacy and investigative reporting for the station and co-owned NewsChannel 8 cable channel as well as wjla.com and newschannel8.net.
The station said the team will focus on consumer problems and government waste and “watch out for WJLA viewers.”
“ABC7 has had a long history in this market of watching out for the little guy,” says Director of News Mitch Jacob. “Our new investigative team will take this kind of reporting to the next level. We’ll be there for our viewers on matters that are important to them.”
The unit will comprise a team of reporters, producers, photographers/editors and will be led by Holly Shannon.
“I am truly honored to run this team,” says Shannon. “ABC7 is committed to be the watch-dog for the DC Region. I know we’ve selected the best group of veteran journalists for the job.”

“This is a big undertaking,” adds Jacob. “But DC and our viewers deserve this type of reporting. We’re going to dig deep into the issues that impact the DC region.”
Sinclair acquired WJLA and a string of other ABC affiliates from Allbritton Communications this past summer.

Can you prove this allegation? Do you have documentation? Where is your evidence? Will the average DC resident care? Random topics like yours just thrown out there really need to be relevant to the questions above and to the average DC viewer. Or, the most important question here….. do you yourself have a personal agenda involving the issue you pose? Your response will probably automatically takes it off the table.
