WLWT’S Vogel Named Ohio Sportscaster Of The Year

George Vogel, sports director of Hearst-owned NBC affiliate WLWT Cincinnati (DMA 36), has been selected by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association as the Ohio Sportscaster of the Year.

It is the first time Vogel has received the annual award, given to only one TV or radio sportscaster in each state since 1959. Vogel joins a short list of Ohio’s all-time greatest sportscasters to win this prestigious award, with previous winners including Marty Brennaman, Al Michaels, Paul Keels, Bob Trumpy and Waite Hoyt.

Vogel is one of Cincinnati’s most familiar broadcasters. After growing up in the Cincinnati area, George has spent his entire 33 year broadcasting career at WLWT.

Vogel will be honored at the 57th Annual NSSA Awards Weekend, June 18-20, in Salisbury, NC.
