WMAQ Chicago Expands Weather Team

NBC O&O WMAQ Chicago (DMA 3) today announced two new additions to its weather team.  Cheryl Scott is joining as the weekend meteorologist and Alicia Roman will be the primary meteorologist for the newly launched NBC5 News at Noon. They will be joining the WMAQ weather team of Brant Miller, Andy Avalos and Pete Sack. As previously reported, current weekend meteorologist Ginger Zee will be leaving the station in October.

Scott is joining from WBIR, the NBC affiliate in Knoxville, Tenn., where for the past two years she has been the weekend morning and evening meteorologist. Prior to Knoxville, Scott was a weather forecaster in Erie, Pa.  She is a graduate of Brown University in Providence, and holds her broadcast meteorology certification from Mississippi State University.

Roman comes to WMAQ from WISH, the CBS affiliate in Indianapolis, where she handled weekend and weekday forecasts. Prior to Indianapolis, she was a weather forecaster in Columbia, S.C. She holds a journalism degree from Penn State University, and also attended the broadcast meteorology program at Mississippi State University. She has her AMS Seal of Approval.
