WTVM Names Holly Steuart VP-GM

The former GM of WHP Harrisburg, Pa., will take over at Raycom’s ABC affiliate in Columbus, Ga., succeeding the retiring Lee Brantley.

Raycom Media today named Holly Steuart vice president and general manager of its ABC affiliate WTVM Columbus, Ga. (DMA 127). She succeeds Lee Brantley who is retiring at the end of July.

Steuart started her 30-plus year career in news, and worked her way up to her first GM job in 1999 at KFYR, KMOT, KQCD and KUMV in Bismarck, ND. From there she moved to Las Vegas where she served as GM for Meredith’s KVVU.

Her most recent general manager role was at WHP Harrisburg, Pa., until Newport Television sold the station to Sinclair Broadcasting.

I thought raycom had a Gm training program for their best and brightest. What? No one qualified from with in? So much for all the talk of ” congrates you have been chosen to be trained for a GM job” Good luck to the grads of the program this year. Hope they don’t find an out sider that was let go at anther station.

Having lived in Columbus, GA when WTVM was owned by AFLAC, I remember that WTVM and WRBL were the top stations at that time. The NBC station dropped their local newscast around 1992, and the FOX station didn’t even have a newscast! The new GM has experience, and will keep WTVM competitive.
