WUVC Expands With 6 P.M. Newscast

The Univision Raleigh, N.C. O&O’s new half-hour Noticias 40 is the first Spanish-language newscast in the state.

On Aug. 29, Univision O&O WUVC Raleigh-Durham, N.C. (DMA 25) will debut a half-hour Spanish-language newscast. Noticias 40 will air at 6-6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, anchored by Jaime Zea and Edwin Pitti.

“We are excited to bring to the area’s rapidly growing Hispanic population the first Spanish-language daily newscast,” said Luis Fernandez-Rocha, senior vice president, regional director/southeast, Univision Local Media. “Our viewers and constituents rely on Univision 40 for news coverage that will inform and empower their families and communities on decisions that impact them.”

In addition to Zea and Pitti and, the WUVC news team includes Karina Torres, who will report on stories affecting the Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville community. Noticias 40 and Univision Network’s evening newscast Noticiero Univision will provide Hispanics with daily news coverage at the local, national and international levels. Moreover, the station’s local weekend program, Vida Carolina (Life in the Carolinas) will spotlight local and cultural events, community news and feature interviews with special guests.
