TVN WOMEN IN TECHNOLOGY

TVN To Honor Imagine’s Connan-Lostanlen

Imagine Communications CMO and veteran television technologist and marketer Glodina Connan-Lostanlen will receive TVNewsCheck's 2017 Women in Technology Leadership Award, which will be presented during the NAB Show in Las Vegas in April.

Glodina Connan-Lostanlen, chief marketing officer of Imagine Communications, will receive TVNewsCheck’s seventh annual Women in Technology Leadership Award.

The award will be presented during the NAB Show on April 25 at 6 p.m. in Room N-227 of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Connan-Lostanlen has played a leading role in helping Imagine Communications navigate the transition from a manufacturer of traditional broadcast technology to a provider of IP-enabled, software-defined, cloud-based solutions. At the same time, she has emerged as an advocate and educator, helping customers to make the leap into trying new technology while embracing new business models in a changing television ecosystem.

Earlier in her career, Connan-Lostanlen was a global evangelist for the multimedia possibilities of digital radio and digital TV broadcasting, helping what was then Harris Broadcast to become the world’s leading supplier of DAB and DVB-TV solutions.

“Glodina Connan-Lostanlen represents that rare combination of outstanding technologist with an ability to communicate a vision and lead an organization through change,” said Kathy Haley, TVNewsCheck’s co-founder and publisher, in announcing this year’s Women in Technology Leadership Award selection. “She led virtual teams in the design and execution of Imagine’s most complex solutions and commercial strategies, all while making sure the company’s traditional business continued to work effectively with customers not yet ready to begin their transition to IP.”

Connan-Lostanlen began her career as a research and development engineer at BBs One, now GFI. She joined what was then Harris Broadcast in 2001, where she supported worldwide sales for the company’s terrestrial digital radio and TV projects.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

In October 2014,  she was named VP, strategic solutions management, a new position in which Connan-Lostanlen managed Imagine’s large-scale, next-gen sales initiatives.

Connan-Lostanlen obtained a European Ph.D. in signal processing and telecommunications with honors from France’s Rennes University 1 in collaboration with University College London and the Institute of Oceanography of Hamburg, Germany. In June 2015, she received an MBA from the University of Toronto Rotman School of Management, dean’s list with distinction and Bregman Scholar.

Prior to her Ph.D. studies, Connan-Lostanlen earned a Master of Science in microwave and opto-electronics with distinction from University College London, U.K., and a master’s degree in electrical engineering with honors from the National Institute for Applied Sciences of Rennes, France.

TVN’s Women in Technology Leadership Award recognizes women who have contributed substantially toward advancing their industry technologically. It supports the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation’s Technology Apprenticeship Program, which places young engineers, who are women or people of color, in broadcast industry internships.

Previous Women in Technology Leadership Award honorees are Michelle Munson, co-founder and CEO of Apera; Renu Thomas, EVP of media operations, technology and IT at Disney ABC Television Group; Darcy Antonellis, now CEO of Vubiquity; Wendy Aylsworth, former SVP of Warner Bros. technical operations; Cindy Hutter-Cavell, senior engineer and practice manager, Cavell Mertz & Associates; and Andrea Berry, former SVP of media services at Fox Networks Engineering and Operations, who now heads her own consulting firm.
