Campbell Brown To Keynote NewsTECHForum

Facebook’s head of news partnerships will highlight a conference gathering news, technology and digital executives to talk about the Facebook Journalism Project and the company’s role in a changing media ecosystem.

Campbell Brown, head of news partnerships for Facebook, will appear in a keynote interview at TVNewsCheck’s NewsTECHForum 2017, where she is expected to address Facebook’s evolving relationships with news organizations and the social media platform’s efforts to fight the spread of false news on the platform and support an informed community.

A 20-year veteran of television news, Brown leads a team responsible for helping news organizations and journalists work more closely and more effectively with Facebook. She will be interviewed by TVNewsCheck Editor Harry A. Jessell at 1:45 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11, at the New York Hilton.

“Facebook has emerged as a critically important platform for news publishers,” said Jessell. “We look forward to hearing from Campbell about how Facebook is working to provide traditional media with better monetization opportunities and what the company is doing to differentiate between legitimate and fake news.”

Brown worked previously as an anchor and correspondent for NBC News and CNN. She anchored a weekday primetime news program, focusing on politics, for CNN from 2007 to 2010. Brown also spent 11 years at NBC News, where she co-anchored the weekend edition of Today from 2003 to 2007 and was White House correspondent during President George W. Bush’s first term. She also served as the primary substitute anchor for NBC Nightly News.

Brown began her career in local news, working at NBC affiliates in Topeka, Kan.; Richmond, Va.; Baltimore; and Washington before joining the network. Brown also founded The 74, a nonprofit news site covering education in America.

NewsTECHForum, now in its sixth year, will also feature sessions on Creating the Newsroom of the Future; The Contribution Revolution; Chasing Millennials in 2018; Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality and the State of the Art in TV Graphics; Drones & News Photography; Beating the Smartphone Weather App; and Conquering the Multiplatform News Jungle.
