DMA 40: LAS VEGAS

Brian Loftus Named KLAS Evening Anchor

Nexstar Broadcasting Group has promoted Brian Loftus to evening anchor of its CBS affiliate KLAS Las Vegas (DMA 40). Beginning Jan. 2, 2018, he will anchor the 5 and 11 p.m. broadcasts. He is succeeding Dave Courvoisier, who is leaving KLAS on Dec. 15 after 15 years.

Loftus joined the Morning News team at KLAS more than eight years ago, and has served as the anchor of Good Day for the last four years.

For the past three years, he has also hosted and anchored KLAS’ New Year’s Eve Countdown special from the Las Vegas Strip that is broadcast in 12 television markets and streamed live on LasVegasNow.com.

Loftus began his career as a teacher and coach, before his broadcasting career started in Los Angeles radio in 2002. He made the leap to television in 2007 as a feature reporter for KMPH Fresno, Calif.

Loftus graduated from the University of Iowa, where he earned a B.A. in English, and a Master of Arts in teaching from Loyola Marymount University.
