WTMO, WRMD Streamline Automation With NVerzion

ZGS Communications-owned Telemundo affiliates WTMO-CD Orlando and WRMD-CD Tampa have completed the installation of a comprehensive multi-channel broadcast automation system supplied by NVerzion, a broadcast equipment manufacturer headquartered in Salt Lake City.

After on-site, in-depth personnel training by the NVerzion staff, the two systems at the separate stations function identically. Prior to the install, management stressed the importance of uniformity in operations across their multiple channels. Tighter integration with the existing Marketron traffic system, compared with the previous automation system, was the goal.

The NVerzion automation system controls a 360 Systems Maxx Video Server,  and Sigma Technology Systems 64×64 HD Router. The system is being used for commercial insertion, which receives network cue tones to trigger the start of each break, while interfacing with the Evertz Namedropper for station ID’s. The NVerzion automation system interfaces with the existing Marketron traffic system and offers increased stability and reliability.

Gary Faller, regional broadcast IT engineer for ZGS’ Florida stations, appreciated the customized “manual” router control software, used now for the stations’ locally broadcast news and entertainment. It was an easy and straightforward integration into the Master Control facility design. Another improvement was the inclusion of multiple trigger outputs, and the reliable NControl automated playlist manager.

Faller also praised the “great support for NVerzion automation system long after installation and commissioning were completed.”
