NBC O&Os Launch Multiplatform ‘LX News’

The new show will air live Monday to Friday at 8-10 a.m. and 8-10 p.m. ET via over-the-air TV, cable and OTT/streaming, offering “context” to its targeted audience of millennials and Gen Z-ers.

LX, NBCUniversal Owned TV Stations’ new TV/streaming network for Gen Z and millennials ramps up its rolling launch across over-the-air TV, cable and OTT platforms with the debut of LX News, a live news program that will air on weekdays from 8 to 10 a.m. and 8-10 p.m. ET.

Audiences can also tune in to LX to watch programming from content partners Tastemade, The Dodo, Jukin Media and a storytelling spotlight featuring The New York Times.

LX’s linear launch partners include NBC/Telemundo owned stations in 30 markets, and the HC2 TV Station Group. Audiences everywhere can watch LX’s programming for free on LX.com.

LX News will be presented by four new hosts from LX’s new state-of-the-art workspace and studio. Each news show showcases content from LX storytellers, who are embedded in their local communities and charged with creating and delivering compelling visual news stories about the places they live in and work. Dallas based storyteller Clark Fouraker will be a regular contributor in studio with four new hosts who joined the network in February 2020. They are:

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Jobeth Devera (@jobethdeveratv) — A San Diego native, Devera is the former host/producer for HI Now, a lifestyle show she helped launch in Hawaii in 2018. Before joining LX, her background in broadcast television included working at Hawaii News Now (KGMB-KHNL) and at Nebraska stations KHGI and KETV as a reporter, traffic anchor, multimedia journalist and producer. She earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from San Diego State University.

Ashley Holt (@Ashley_A_Holt) — After launching her career in broadcasting at NBC News’ Weekend Today, Today and CNBC as a fellow/intern, Holt has held numerous roles with increasing responsibility at TV stations including KOMU Columbia, Mo., and KJRH Tulsa, Okla., before working as host/producer for Newsy’s live morning shows for the past two years. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri.

Tabitha Lipkin (@tabithalipkin) — Has varied experiences on the network and local TV level including working at Conan on TBS and The Colbert Report and as a sports anchor and reporter for KSWB San Diego. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Texas. A dive master and former Miss Scuba International, Lipkin has traveled the world to advocate for ocean conservation. She also works in partnership with the UN for humanitarian advocacy through sports.

Nik Zecevic (@NikZLX) — Zecevic brings his experiences to LX after working as an anchor/report for KMIR Palm Springs, Calif., and hosting YouTube’s political talk show The Lip TV. A Los Angeles native, Zecevic has also lived in Asia and Europe. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from John Cabot University in Rome, Italy.

Cable: LX is available in select Xfinity markets with more service providers and new markets to be added in the coming weeks.

OTT: LX is currently available to Apple TV, Fubo and Roku customers via NBC owned station apps that are available in these platforms. LX will soon be available as a channel on YouTube Live.

Mobile: In addition to LX.com on mobile web, LX content is available on NBC owned station websites and mobile apps. Audiences can access LX content by clicking on the sites’ menu bar and clicking on “NBCLX.”

The launch of LX’s live news programs follows the network’s September 2019 YouTube/digital launch which has generated more than 275 video stories published on LX’s YouTube channel and across social media.

LX offers opportunities for local and national advertising through its dedicated digital site and social channels, and through its over-the-air linear TV and streaming network. The LX ad model features fewer and shorter commercial breaks, “to help meet key audience’s changing expectations,” it says.
