The Hearst ABC affiliate in Jackson, Miss., adds weekend morning newscasts at 6 and 8

WAPT Jackson, Miss. (DMA 90), Hearst Television’s ABC affiliate, has expanded its morning news to seven days a week. On Saturday April 30, 16 WAPT News began producing two hours of local news on Saturday and Sunday mornings around ABC’s Good Morning America.

The new WAPT weekend morning news line-up is as follows:

6 a.m. — 16 WAPT News This Morning; 7 a.m. — Good Morning America; 8 a.m. — 16  WAPT News This Morning

“16 WAPT provides more local morning news than any other station in Jackson”, says WAPT President/General Manager Stuart Kellogg. “We are the only station with morning news starting at 4:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, and now, with our weekend news, our viewers can not only catch up on the news happening overnight, but they’ll get important weather information that impacts their weekends.”

Andrew Kinsey anchors the weekend morning show along with meteorologist Meagan Quigley.
