London Broadcasting Completes Dallas Buy

London Broadcasting Co. (LBC), the owner and operator of Texas-based media properties, announced today that it has completed the acquisition of independent KTAQ Dallas (DMA 5) from Simons Broadcasting.

Terry E. London, president of LBC, said in a statement: “With our focus on Texas, we are thrilled to acquire a full-power station in the Dallas-Fort Worth market and bring our brand of broadcasting to North Texas. With this acquisition, LBC now reaches almost 40% of the Texas population in five Texas DMAs.”

On Jan. 1, LBC changed the call letters from KTAQ to KTXD. The station will be promoted as K-TEX.

LBC has entered into a long-term affiliation agreement with Weigel Broadcasting Co., and next month KTXD will become a Me-TV affiliate. Me-TV’s library includes series from Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution, CBS Television Distribution, NBCUniversal Television as well as independent series owners and producers. Me-TV’s lineup includes: M*A*S*H, Cheers, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Bob Newhart Show, Gunsmoke, Star Trek and Hawaii Five-O.
