The Laredo, Texas, NBC affiliate will add the full ABC lineup to its ch. 8.2, becoming ABC’s 244th affiliate, starting in February 2014.

Gray To Air ABC On KGNS Subchannel
The ABC Television Network and Gray Television Inc. have reached a new affiliation agreement to broadcast the full ABC Television Network programming schedule in Laredo, Texas (DMA 184), using KGNS’ ch. 8.2. The market did not have an ABC affiliate. The announcement was made today by John Rouse, SVP, affiliate relations, ABC Television Network, and Hilton Howell, president-CEO of Gray Television.
The station is one of the four full-power stations Gray purchased Monday from Yellowstone Television for $23 million.
As part of the new affiliation, KGNS 8.2 will broadcast all of ABC’s primetime schedule, as well as Good Morning America, ABC daytime programming, World News and Jimmy Kimmel Live. The channel is targeted to launch in February 2014.
“Laredo’s No. 1 local station, KGNS, is the logical choice to bring ABC’s news, entertainment and sports programming to the local community,” said Kevin Latek, Gray’s SVP for business affairs. “And Gray is the logical choice to build the newest ABC affiliate as Gray has launched four new CBS affiliates and one new NBC since September 2012.”
“Gray Television is a great local broadcaster, and we’re looking forward to working with them to provide the very best news and entertainment programming to viewers in the Laredo area,” Rouse said.
Gray Television’s other owned and/or operated ABC affiliates include WTOK Meridian, Miss.; KAKE Wichita, Kan.; WVAW Charlottesville, Va.; WHSV Harrisonburg, Va.; WBKO Bowling Green, Ky.; KOLO Reno, Nev.; and KJCT Grand Junction, Colo. With the addition of this new station, ABC will have a total of 244 affiliates.

Just wish that Gray Television could have the chance to fully buy KGWC/KGWL/KGWR Casper market CBS station from Mark Nalbone and be housed in KCWY studios in Casper to air KCWY would turn to KGWC NBC13 on their DT1 and KGWC CBS from KGWN CBS 5 on their DT2 with KGWN/KSTF CBS 5/10 in Cheyenne and Scottsbluff from the KGWN building in Cheyenne carrying KGWN/KSTF CBS 5/10 on their DT1 and KCHY NBC from KCWY turning KGWC NBC 13 on their DT2. KCWY current DTV RF channel 12 can go to KPTW to use for their DTV RF channel. KGWC can use channel 13 for their virtual channel while continuing to use channel 14 for their RF channel.

Mark Nalbone has done the worst job with the CBS station in Casper and the ABC and FOX stations serving both Casper and Cheyenne-Scottsbluff markets. Why didn’t Chelsey Television think about allowing Sagamore Hill to buy both Cheyenne and Casper market CBS stations instead of Sagamore Hill only getting Cheyenne CBS station and Mark Nalbone Mark 3 Media getting Casper CBS station to combined with the ABC and FOX stations under his control. Mark Nalbone in my own opinion and theory is the worst offender of any broadcaster engaging in 1910-1940 era Paramount Pictures block booking type style of behavioral practices in conducting retransmission consent deals with cable and satellite providers for the Casper and Cheyenne-Scottsbluff markets in Wyoming.

Never with Brian Brady and he could attempt to buy NTV(KHGI/KWNB) with the LMA for KFXL to pair it up with KSWT for buying stations from Pappas bankruptcy trustee David Stapleton.
