KAXT-CD San Francisco Adds Retro TV
Low-power independent KAXT-CD San Francisco (dma 6) is the latest station to add Luken Communications’ Retro TV to its subchannel lineup. KAXT-CD, owned and operated by OTA Broadcasting, plans to launch Retro TV on Wednesday, Oct. 15.
Viewers in the San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose areas will be able to find Retro TV’s classic television programming over the air on ch. 1.2.
KAXT General Manager Warren Trumbly says: “Retro TV’s wealth of legendary programming was the obvious choice. We know our viewers will embrace the classic series they remember so fondly or discover for the first time.”

If kaxt in the low band vhf, they will not be in the auction..

PSIP 1, eh? That’s about as bad as having a station on PSIP 73 (and I believe that there is at least one LPTV station on that PSIP). I don’t know if any of the HD flatscreen TVs can pick up either PSIP 1 or 73 on their tuners. I think they just go from PSIP 2 to PSIP 69. Same for the digital to analog converter boxes. I think that KAXT-CD should convert their PSIP to 42 (if available), so that the Bay Area viewers can watch that station.

I have not heard of one single TV having a problem with PSIP channel 1. 42 is unavailable, or it would be there already. The FCC has signed off on the channel 1 placement as well: http://transition.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/tvq?facid=37689
