WFTS Tampa Expands Morning Newscasts

On Monday, Jan. 12, Scripps-owned ABC affiliate WFTS Tampa, Fla. (DMA 13), will expand its morning newscast.

The addition of ABC Action News at 4:30 a.m. and ABC Action News at 9 a.m. will create a morning block of local news, weather and traffic, plus national news.

The new morning lineup will be:

• 4:30-7 a.m. — ABC Action News
• 7-9 a.m. — Good Morning America and ABC Action News
• 9-10 a.m. — ABC Action News

“Our goal is to serve the needs of our community every day,” says WFTS VP- General Manager Nick Nicholson. “More and more people are starting their day earlier and need to stay updated on local news weather and traffic well into the morning. This allows us to respond to them and fulfill our promise of ‘Taking Action for You.’ ”

The new WFTS newscasts will be anchored by Dan Shaffer and Deiah Riley who will be joined by meteorologist Shay Ryan and Lindsay Logue with traffic reports.
