Harrobin Named CMO Of NBC’s Content Agency

NBCUniversal’s Content Innovation Agency (CIA) today appointed marketing and advertising executive John Harrobin as chief marketing officer. Harrobin will oversee the strategy, development and implementation of all marketing and creative content activities for the company’s advertising sales division. He will report to Linda Yaccarino, chairman, advertising sales and client partnerships, NBCUniversal.

Under Harrobin, NBCUniversal’s marketing efforts will expand to give clients more access to original content created for the company’s entire portfolio across all platforms, the company said. CIA will drive all of NBCUniversal’s marketing services including video, branded and native content development for its clients.

Harrobin joins NBCUniversal from Verizon where he has held senior positions since 2003. Recently, he served chief marketing officer of Verizon’s consumer and mass business unit, which included FiOS video and internet services. He was responsible for creative, media, market strategy and segmentation, channel development, e-commerce, and marketing operations.  

Previously, Harrobin was the chief marketing officer of Verizon Enterprise Solutions. He also has held roles at Verizon including: interim CMO of Verizon Wireless; SVP marketing and digital media; and VP of marketing communications and CRM.

Harrobin is a graduate of Villanova University and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
