KMOV Names Scott Diener News Director

The former news VP at KCBS-KCAL Los Angeles takes over at the Meredith CBS affil in St. Louis on Sept. 6.

Meredith’s CBS affiliate KMOV St. Louis (DMA 21) today appointed Scott Diener news director, effective Sept. 6. He succeeds Brian Thouvenot who left on June 20.

Diener is a news veteran who has worked for stations in Los Angeles, Dallas, San Francisco, Phoenix, Cincinnati and Louisville, Ky.

Most recently he was VP of news for KCBS-KCAL Los Angeles. According to KMOV, under his leadership the CBS-owned duopoly achieved historic ratings milestones including the first No. 1 ranking of late news at 10 and 11 p.m. in a sweeps period.

Diener has been honored with journalism awards, including a George Foster Peabody Award and the Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award.

He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
