New NBC Co-Chairs To Keynote NATPE Miami
The National Association of Television Program Executives (NATPE) today announced a collection of top-line programming highlights for the organization’s annual conference in Miami including the first public speaking appearance from the two newly appointed co-chairs of NBC Entertainment, George Cheeks and Paul Telegdy.
The pair are set to keynote with a moderated conversation at NATPE Miami Marketplace & Conference 2019 on Wednesday morning, Jan. 23, 2019. NATPE Miami will run Jan. 22-24. Additionally, a first-time special event headlined by media mogul Tyler Perry and produced by NATPE entitled “Living the Dream: A Career in Content” will take place on the Monday prior to the conference opening its doors.
NATPE also announced today the addition of three new members to their board — Susanne Daniels, Global Head of Original Content at YouTube, Kathleen Finch, Chief Lifestyle Brands Officer at Discovery Inc., and Brett Hansen, Head of Alternative Television at UTA. Heading into the yearly tent-pole event in Miami, the new board members join a group of domestic and international content executives prepared to guide the conference conversation that will have an emphasis on connectivity and active deal-making.
Returning to the Fontainebleau Hotel, this year’s conference will be consolidated into the same building as the conference floor, meeting rooms and exhibition suites. The programming slate at this year’s NATPE Miami will surpass that of previous years, while bringing back some attendee favorites.
This includes the return of popular panels “How Wall St. Watches Television” and the Station Group Forum as well as the 2019 edition of the NATPE Latin American Summit. Sessions making their debut at NATPE Miami this year include “Hollywood Dealmakers” curated by Lionsgate Television Group President Sandra Stern; a one-on-one talk on the future of distribution between, Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution President Mark Kaner and Gerhard Zeiler President of Turner International.
In addition to sessions with an international focus and those dedicated to the state of broadcast television, monetization in the digital age is being covered and will include Platforms + OTT; Unscripted; and Brands x Content. On Wednesday, January 23, NATPE presents a unique panel discussion with ad sales cheifs from the major networks including, Steve Mandala, Univision; Mark Marshall, NBCUniversal; and Jon Steinlauf, Discovery. This will be followed by multiple showcases and discussions featuring top brands utilizing content to reach a measurable audience, creating their own IP and delivering new revenues via targeted/programmatic advertising.
“Our theme for NATPE Miami this year is ‘Shaping Content Together,’ which is not just a tagline, it is a worldwide call to action to come to Miami this January where deals will get made. We are creating sessions, events and curated meetings that will ensure barriers are broken down between those who create, distribute and monetize best-in-class content internationally. We are excited by the voices that will prime the conversation at the year’s first global television summit,” remarked JP Bommel, NATPE president-CEO.
Additional programming highlights, including this year’s recipients of the annual Brandon Tartikoff Legacy Awards, will be announced in the coming weeks. To register for NATPE, click here.
