The network signs a long-term deal with the Max Media-owned digital station that signs on next year.
CBS today signed a long-term affiliation agreement with Max Media LLC for WNKY-DT in Bowling Green, Ky. WNKY-DT, which is the full-power digital station of WNKY, the NBC affiliate Max Media owns, will sign on in the first quarter of 2007.
Peter Schruth, president, CBS Affiliate Relations, noted, “This new affiliation gives us the opportunity to significantly enhance CBS’s presence in a region that had previously been underserved by the network. Max Media’s strong commitment to community service, their dedication to upgrading their broadcast properties and the successful track records of the stations they own in other markets will make this a winning partnership for CBS, Max Media and the audiences and advertisers we will be serving in South Central Kentucky.”
John Trinder, president of Max Media, said, “We’re very happy to be a part of the fast growing Bowling Green/South Central Kentucky market. The addition of CBS is the next step in our long term plans to grow our presence in the market. We have a number of dual affiliation stations across the country and have enjoyed great success with them. This unique combination of two of the big three is very unusual and tremendously exciting for us.”
Bowling Green, Ky., is the 183rd largest market in the country.
