Former Los Angeles Times editor-in-chief Lewis D’Vorkin and dozens of other employees of Tronc Inc. were dismissed on Thursday. The cuts, which were made in a joint meeting with all the laid off employees present, included Tribune Interactive’s Los Angeles-based video and online content teams, which operate separately from the Los Angeles Times. Kenny Plotnik, the news director of NBC’s Boston O&O, is stepping down. The station staff got the word from NBC Boston’s president, Mike St. Peter, who said the local NBC affiliate’s news operation had come to a “fork in the road” under Plotnik, but the parting is “amicable.” St. Peter also insisted the change has nothing to do with the station’s ratings, which have been mostly moribund since NBC dumped WHDH to go its own way over a year ago.

CBS News has formed a “working group” to address complaints and suggestions about the company’s workplace environment, according to an email sent to employees on Tuesday. The move comes as network management is still facing scrutiny following the ousting of Charlie Rose in November.

On Tuesday, a link to a four-minute video specifically attacking CNN was posted atop the web sites of Sinclair’s stations. The video calls the network reprehensible for reporting on its directives, and said the “fake news” message was similar to warnings that CNN and its media reporter, Brian Stelter, have been giving for years. The video shows clips of Stelter’s reports. “Is it really news that fake news is a concern in 2018, or is this an attack on Sinclair?” the company said in Tuesday’s video.

Sinclair Broadcast Group CEO Chris Ripley apologized to employees Tuesday for having to endure what he called “politically motivated attacks” over the right-leaning media company’s recent promos, which drew widespread criticism for echoing President Trump’s attacks on the “fake” news media.

The list of entertainment programs making the nominations cut includes CBS All Access’ Star Trek: Discovery, NBC’s The Good Place, Netflix’s American Vandal, FX’s Legion, HBO’s Insecure and Freeform’s Alias Grace.
