AccuWeather Elevates Oliver Knowlton To Chief Strategy Officer

AccuWeather today promoted Oliver Knowlton chief strategy officer, reporting directly to Founder-CEO Dr. Joel N. Myers, effective immediately.

Knowlton joined AccuWeather in 2018 on a part-time basis to help manage the Local Media Solutions business unit, which serves local television, newspapers, radio, digital out of home and broadcast partnerships in top media markets, and was promoted shortly thereafter to SVP, strategic development, joining Myers’ leadership team and overseeing the creation and execution of strategic corporate initiatives, working directly with Myers and President Steven R. Smith.

In his expanded role as CSO, Knowlton will partner with executives across AccuWeather to accelerate product development, improve processes and execution and capitalize on his experience in corporate strategy and structure. Additionally, Knowlton will continue to assess operational and strategic risks.

As SVP, strategic development, Knowlton oversaw the AccuWeather line of business dedicated to the promotion and management of radio, newspaper, local television partnerships, AccuWeather’s local television solutions business, as well as digital out of home. This included building and securing partnerships serving ABC Owned and Operated Stations within the top eight markets, such as New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston, San Francisco, Raleigh-Durham, N.C., and Fresno, Calif.

Prior to joining AccuWeather, Knowlton held leadership positions at renowned media and digital enterprises such as Time Inc., MediaNews Group, One News, PointRoll and Gannett.
