David Hughes Upped To GM Of WOIO-WUAB Cleveland

The station group is moving him from Charleston-Huntington, W.Va., to succeed Matt Moran as leader of the CBS-CW duopoly in Ohio.

Gray Television today promoted David Hughes to be general manager of its WOIO (CBS) and WUAB (CW) in Cleveland. He succeeds Matt Moran, who recently became a senior managing vice president at Gray.

Hughes joins the Cleveland stations on June 26; he’s been GM of Gray’s WSAZ (NBC) and WQCW Charleston-Huntington, W.Va., since December 2021.

Previously, Hughes led Gray’s WVIR Charlottesville, Va., as general manager and, prior to that position, he was the news director at Gray’s WDBJ Roanoke, Va.

Hiss career also includes various roles in the news departments at WFLA Tampa, Fla.; WRAL Raleigh, N.C.; and WMAZ Macon, Ga.
