HRTS Announces New Board Members And Advisory Council

Hollywood Radio and Television Society (HRTS) has announced its newly-elected board members and newly-appointed Advisory Council members comprising a diverse group of leaders from across the TV and entertainment industry, it was announced today by HRTS President Odetta Watkins (head of drama series, Amazon Studios) and CEO Melissa Grego.

Grego, who first joined HRTS as CEO in 2017 and previously worked as a journalist, editor and event producer, has also extended her contract with the organization until 2025.

Under the leadership of Watkins, HRTS Chairperson Dan Erlij (Senior Partner and Co-Head of the TV Literary Dept. at UTA) and Grego, HRTS has transformed into one of the most important forces for connection and collaboration within the entertainment industry. HRTS recently set an all-time record for the number of individual memberships; it currently counts virtually every major studio, network/platform and talent agency among its corporate members as well as professionals from a multitude of areas of the industry, from producers, writers and artists to executives, agents, attorneys and managers.

HRTS, which celebrated its 75th anniversary last year, provides community for every career level — from college students to C-Suite level executives. It offers mentorship and programming initiatives that serve members in Los Angeles, New York and around the world.

As part of its 75th anniversary efforts, HRTS last year launched the charitable HRTS Foundation, whose first initiative was the HRTS Fellowship Program, and the now annual HRTS Gala, which benefits the Foundation. The HRTS Fellowship Program just welcomed its first-ever class; it is designed to help launch the careers of 10 Junior HRTS members and 5 student members. The HRTS Foundation’s mission is to foster a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive TV and entertainment industry.

“As we welcome this extraordinary group of new Board and Advisory Council members to HRTS, we look forward to building on the momentum we have within the industry,” Watkins said. “In the tradition of the luncheon events HRTS has hosted for 75 years, we’ve expanded that legacy to include more than 70 in-person and virtual events each year between HRTS, HRTS Associates and JHRTS. The meaningful discussions in these forums are at the heart of HRTS, which attracts and serves professionals of all levels who are committed to building community and giving back in areas such as our best-in-class mentorship program.”

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Grego said: “We are so thankful for all of those who volunteer and serve on the Board of Directors and Advisory Council, as well as the Boards that serve our mid-career membership, the HRTS Associates; and for the entry level career stage, the Junior HRTS (JHRTS). HRTS has more than 150 volunteer leaders, making it a true insiders’ organization. In this time of uncertainty and change, I am honored to continue working alongside our Boards, members, staff, partners, and the entertainment community at large to provide inclusive support, mentorship and educational programs, which are more vital than ever.”
