Edgardo Sanabria Mariani Named KASA News Director

Telemundo promotes him from assistant news director to lead journalism at its Albuquerque, N.M., owned station.

KASA Albuquerque, N.M. (“Telemundo Nuevo México”), has promoted Edgardo Sanabria Mariani to news director. He will be in charge of the overall operations and performance of the station’s newsroom, including the news productions across multiple media platforms. He has been the station’s assistant news director since January 2022.

“Edgardo is an experienced news leader with a unique vision of the current media landscape and a keen sense for innovation,” said Tony Canales, KASA president and general manager. “His vast experience in news and production will help to strengthen our position as a leading source for news and information for the Hispanic community we serve.”

Prior to joining KASA, Sanabria Mariani worked for a number of NBCUniversal owned stations starting in June 2016 as a producer at KTLM Telemundo 40 in McAllen, Texas. In September 2017 he became an executive producer for KSTS Telemundo 48 in San José, Calif. In April 2021 he joined KTDO Telemundo El Paso, Texas, as assistant news director.

Before joining NBCUniversal, Sanabria Mariani worked in communications and public relations in his native Puerto Rico, having his own public relations firm. He also worked for several radio and TV stations, including Telemundo Puerto Rico.

Sanabria Mariani earned a bachelor’s degree in communication and a master’s degree in public relations from the University of the Sacred Heart in San Juan. He also holds a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the Interamerican University in Puerto Rico.
