KOKI Tulsa Promotes Sara Whaley To Weekday Evening Anchor

Cox Media Group’s Fox affiliate KOKI Tulsa, Okla., has named longtime news reporter and weekend evening anchor Sara Whaley to weekday evening anchor, effective immediately. Whaley will co-anchor Fox23 News at 5, 6, 9 and 10 p.m. alongside Shae Rozzi, forming the station’s first all-female main anchor team.

“I am thrilled to see our smart and dedicated journalists make history at the Fox23 News anchor desk,” says Frank Volpicella, news director. “Over the past eight years, Sara has proven her commitment to covering breaking news and important issues in a way that gives Fox23 viewers a deeper understanding and connection to what’s happening in their community. I am confident that Sara will continue to take that service to the next level in her newly-expanded role.”

Whaley has become a familiar figure to local news viewers in the Tulsa market. As KOKI’s crime and safety reporter, she has developed key contacts within law enforcement and legal agencies across northeast Oklahoma. In 2020, Whaley was promoted to weekend evening anchor, while continuing to work as a daily reporter during the week.
