Liz Zamora Named WTVA News Director
Heartland Media’s NBC-ABC affiliate WTVA Columbus-Tupelo, Miss. (DMA 133), has added Liz Zamora as news director following a five-month search. She succeeds Mike Raffaele who left at the end of September 2018 to become news director at WACH Columbia, S.C.
Zamora is a seasoned journalist who has more than 20 years of experience working in television news. She began her career as a videographer at KOLR Springfield, Mo., and eventually moved in front of the camera as the weekend anchor/reporter at KQTV St. Joseph, Mo.
From there, Zamora moved to Topeka, Kan., as an anchor before working as a multimedia journalist in Kansas City, Mo.
She eventually moved into management as an executive producer and assistant news director at WALB Albany, Ga., and most recently spent a year at KRNV Reno, Nev., as assistant news director.
Zamora graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in broadcast journalism.
