Meagan Harris Named KTVT-KTXA News Director

Award-winning news executive and producer Meagan Harris has been named vice president and news director at CBS Stations’ local businesses in Dallas-Fort Worth, including KTVT (CBS), KTXA (independent), the CBS Texas streaming channel and CBSTexas.com.

Harris, who will assume her new role on Monday, June 5, has spent most of her 20-plus year journalism career working in Texas, including 10 years in the Dallas-Fort Worth market. Most recently, she has served as the news director of NBCLX, a multiplatform national news network that targets millennials and features live newscasts that originate from KXAS, the NBC O&O in Fort Worth. During the past four years, Harris has been a member of the team that has been responsible for taking NBCLX from concept to construction to execution, and has overseen the production of live newscasts since the launch of the network.

Prior to joining NBCLX, Harris had been news director at WTLV and WJXX in Jacksonville, Fla., since 2015. Before that, she spent eight years at WFAA Dallas-Fort Worth, beginning as the producer of the station’s 10 p.m. newscasts and later serving as an executive producer. She began her career as a producer at KXII Sherman, Texas, and then served as the 10 p.m. news producer at KENS San Antonio.

Over the course of her career, Harris has received 30 regional Emmy Awards for individual and newsroom staff achievements, four regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, one national Murrow and several Associated Press Awards.

Harris grew up in rural Texas and earned her bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Oklahoma Christian University.
