At NewsTECHForum on Dec. 10 at the New York Hilton, Matt Danzico, NBC; Emily Kassie, The Marshall Project; Matt Pearl, Tegna’s WXIA and Frederic Roux, Dalet North America, will show and discuss examples of their, or in Roux’s case, his clients’ groundbreaking work.

Cutting-edge news video journalists will share how emerging technologies are shaping their storytelling at NewsTECHForum on Dec. 10 at the New York Hilton.

Matt Danzico, head of NBC’s Left Field; Emily Kassie, director of visual projects for The Marshall Project; Matt Pearl, chief of storytelling and development for Tegna’s WXIA and Frederic Roux, VP of sales for Dalet North America will show and discuss examples of their, or in Roux’s case his clients’ groundbreaking work. TVNewsCheck’s Special Projects Editor Michael Depp will moderate the discussion.

The panel will run from 4:15 to 5 p.m. on Dec. 10.

“New digital tools have invariably sped up the evolution of how we tell powerful news video stories,” Depp said. “Matt, Emily and Matt are expanding the boundaries of TV news’ vocabulary in their work, while Frederic has a broader view of how broadcasters around the world are doing so. The sixth annual NewsTECHForum, set for Dec. 10-11 at the New York Hilton, will bring together engineering, news, production and digital leaders to discuss excellence in news storytelling and news workflow.

Keynote interviews will feature Valari Staab, president of NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations and Christy Tanner, executive vice president and general manager of CBS News Digital. Additional panels and presentations will tackle optimizing production in the field; live news production over IP; attracting younger news audiences with technology; and top technologists on the industry’s bleeding edge.

NewsTECHForum is co-located with the SportsVideoGroup Summit, which gathers nearly 2,000 sports technologists and production managers to talk about excellence in sports production. The Summit features a technology showcase, open to NewsTECHForum attendees, of more than 75 companies.

This year’s NewsTECHForum will also feature the first annual Social Media Excellence Awards, recognizing extraordinary engagement and innovation by local TV brands and talent.
