WEEK Meteorologist Collins Signs Contract Extension

Chuck Collins, Chief Meteorologist for the past 10 years at Quincy Media’s NBC affiliate WEEK Peoria-Bloomington, Ill. (DMA 120), has signed a contract extension to keep him on 25 News until 2024. “We are very happy to have Chuck Collins on the team for many years to come”, said Lon Lucas, News Director of 25 News. “Our viewers trust Chuck to give them the most accurate forecast.”

Collins, 63, is a graduate of both Lake Land College and the Mississippi State University Broadcast Meteorology program. His professional career  began in 1976 at WFWA-FM in Sullivan, Ill. He joined WEEK in October 2009. This year marks his 43rd year as a broadcaster.

He has earned broadcasting seals of approval from the American Meteorological Society and the
National Weather Association. Collins has also won the Illinois Broadcaster’s Association Silver Dome award multiple times for best downstate television weather.
