WTAE Pittsburgh Launching Weekly Public Affairs Show ‘WTAE Listens’

Hearst ABC affiliate WTAE Pittsburgh is set to premiere WTAE Listens, a 30- minute public affairs program that the station says will strive to do exactly what its name suggests: listen. Every week, WTAE will listen to the people who live in and around Pittsburgh about the issues in their communities, and the people they see trying to make things better.

“WTAE Listens hopes to put a spotlight on all issues in Western Pennsylvania – both good and bad,” said WTAE President-General Manager Charles W. Wolfertz III. “We want to have extended conversations with those who have the ability to make changes and to highlight efforts currently in place that are making a difference for our neighbors.”

“This program will give a platform to those who might typically be voiceless and will let them share stories of both the good work and needs of our community,” said WTAE News Director Jim Parsons. “WTAE Channel 4 has a talented team of journalists, and we look forward to showcasing individual members of our News team as the weekly host for this show, starting with Sheldon Ingram this Sunday.”

WTAE Listens premieres this Sunday, Jan. 8, at 11:30 a.m. with a conversation about causes for recent increases in crime among young people in Pittsburgh and potential solutions already being implemented.
