New job openings posted to TVNewsCheck‘s Media Job Center include a managing editor position at a network O&O in Los Angeles, an account exec opening in Memphis and a general sales manager opening in Cincinnati.
KNBC, the NBC O&O in Los Angeles (DMA 2), is looking for a managing editor, an experienced, creative and motivated leader to partner with the vice president of news to manage aspects of the station’s news department including daily coverage, long and short-range planning.
The successful managing editor candidate will be one who has strong news judgment, is responsible for production of content, supervises editorial staff and supervises the execution of the daily newscast. The managing editor will be a model staff member. This position will report directly to the VP of News.

KNBC’s studios are in Universal City. Universal City sits on the San Fernando Valley side of the Cahuenga Pass. The communities which abut Universal City are North Hollywood, Studio City, Cahuenga Pass, Lake Hollywood, Toluca Lake and Burbank. Other communities which are close by but don’t abut Universal City are Valley Village and Sherman Oaks on the Valley side of the hill. Hollywood and West Hollywood are also close by and are on the LA Basin side of the hill.
There are a lot of apartments available in Studio City, Valley Village, North Hollywood and Toluca Lake which are all close by. The Noho section of North Hollywood has a lot of newer apartments and condos. Studio City, Toluca Lake, Sherman Oaks and Noho all have a number of bars, taverns, brewpubs and restaurants. If you want to go to Hollywood, it’s just a short drive away. West Hollywood and the Sunset Strip is also close — straight over Laurel Canyon Boulevard.
WHBQ, Cox Media Group’s Fox affiliate in Memphis (DMA 51), needs a motivated and passionate local account executive who’s eager to WIN while representing a top station in the market. The account executive is responsible for generating media revenues for Cox Media Group Memphis and its entities to meet or exceed predetermined goals.
You will also create revenues by working collaboratively with your local sales manager, by making sales presentations and by directly selling to key primary and secondary accounts as assigned. You will service and secure mutually beneficial relationships with various local businesses, agencies, or individuals that have a desire to reach their target audience through various advertising channels and services.

Cincinnati sits on the Ohio River across from Covington, Ky., about 100 miles southeast of Indianapolis.
