‘SCTV’ Star And Comedian Joe Flaherty Dies At 82

He starred alongside John Candy and Catherine O’Hara in SCTV, about a fictional TV station known as Second City Television that was stacked with buffoons in front of and behind the cameras. Flaherty’s characters included network boss Guy Caballero and the vampiric TV host Count Floyd. He won Emmys in 1982 and 1983 for his writing on SCTV and continued to work in TV and film for decades.

Miramax Names Jonathan Glickman CEO

Wednesday executive producer and former MGM President of Motion Picture Group Jonathan Glickman has been officially named CEO of Miramax, taking over for Bill Block who exited. Glickman starts effective immediately and he’ll be responsible for building out the studio and exploiting its 700 title library which includes such Oscar lauded movies as Chicago, No Country for Old Men, The English Patient, and Shakespeare in Love as well as Pulp Fiction, Halloween, Scary Movie and Gangs of New York.
