EstrellaTV Enhances Weekend Lineup With ‘Escorpión Al Volante’

Estrella Media, a vertically integrated, multi-platform, Spanish-language media company announced today that its EstrellaTV network will be launching a half-hour comedy interview series Escorpión Al Volante with social media superstar Alex Montiel’s alter ego Escorpión Dorado.

Escorpión Al Volante will make its U.S. television debut on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 10 p.m. ET. In this half-hour comedy interview show Escorpión Dorado delivers laughs and cheeky situations while driving his car around town accompanied by some of today’s hottest Latin entertainment celebrities. Guests include regional Mexican recording artist Lupillo Rivera, actor-comedian Hector Suarez, internationally renowned standup comedian Franco Escamilla and Regional Mexican superstar Julion Alvarez, to name a few.

A YouTube superstar and mega influencer, Montiel’s alter ego is an over the top and irreverent Mexican masked wrestler named “Escorpión Dorado” (Golden Scorpion) who appears on Montiel’s YouTube Channel “PelucheEn ElEstuche,” which has over eight million subscribers. He also has a second YouTube channel “La Lata,” which has almost three million subscribers and where he appears as himself reviewing films and interviewing Hollywood A-listers.

“We are incredibly excited to continue working with Escorpión Dorado and have him bring his comedy to EstrellaTV’s weekend lineup. His comedic style is always surprising, which creates unexpected moments that are truly hilarious. ‘Al Volante’ will showcase his interviewing skills and comedic talent while driving around with some of today’s hottest stars,” said Ivan Stoilkovich, EVP, television programming, Estrella Media.

A Mexico City native, Montiel is no stranger to U.S. Hispanic audiences; in 2020 he made his U.S. television debut on EstrellaTV with his own late-night talk show format Nos Cayó La Noche, and since then has had multiple appearances as a judge on the network’s No. 1 hit show Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento, as well as special appearances on EstrellaTV’s Regional Mexican music awards show Premios de la Radio.
