KCNC Denver To Air Weekly Show With U. Of Colo. Head Football Coach Deion Sanders

KCNC Denver (CBS Colorado) says it has secured an exclusive commitment from new University of Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders, aka “Coach Prime,” to appear in a weekly half-hour show during the 2023 college football season, beginning Thursday, Aug. 31.

Prime’s Playbook with Romi Bean will originate from Folsom Field at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Hosted by KCNC lead sports anchor Romi Bean, the show will feature insights and analysis from Sanders and interviews with CU football players and other athletes. The program will air on KCNC and stream on CBS News Colorado every Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

“Romi, Eric Christensen [KCNC managing editor of sports], and I all attended the University of Colorado, so in addition to “Prime’s Playbook” being a show that will appeal to every Buffaloes Football fan this is also something that’s near and dear to our hearts, both personally and professionally,” said KCNC President-GM Tim Wieland. “Coach Prime has not only energized the fan base, but also made the University of Colorado a center of attention nationally. CBS Colorado is thrilled to partner with Coach Prime as we discuss each week of this highly anticipated and hopefully history-making season.”

Bean was recently named lead sports anchor at KCNC and was awarded co-Colorado Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports Media Association.

“The University of Colorado will be one of the most compelling stories in college football this year,” Bean said. “We’re so excited to have Coach Prime break it down for us every week on CBS Colorado.”

Deion Sanders was named head football coach at the University of Colorado in December 2022. His first game as head coach for the Buffaloes will be Sept. 2 at TCU. His first home game follows on Sept. 9 against long-time rival Nebraska.
