WTTG Washington Expands Programming With “DMV Zone”

Fox O&O WTTG Washington will increase its original programming offerings with DMV Zone, when the live, hour-long show debuts on Monday, Oct. 24, and will air weekdays at 3 p.m., following Judge Judy. With this addition, the station will produce 88.5 hours of original programming per week
Vice President and News Director Paul McGonagle said: “Following the successful launch of the L.I.O.N. Lunch Hour, Fox 5 continues its dedication to original local programming with the DMV Zone. This fast-paced, viewer-centric program will be the ultimate local news show, utilizing the entire strength of the newsroom to tackle issues that matter across the DMV.”
Anchored by WTTG’s Marina Marraco and veteran host and radio personality Joe Clair, DMV Zone will be live from the center of the newsroom and focus on the stories that are making headlines and inspiring conversations in the D.C., Maryland and Virginia metro area, as well as nationally. The anchors will lead the discussions while other station reporters, contributors, producers, assignment editors and digital team members will weigh in with the latest updates on each story.

This program, the station said, “will abandon the traditional two-minute news story and devote more time and voices to provide a deeper look into each issue.” DMV Zone will also address topics trending on social media and encourage viewer interaction with person-on-the-street interviews, social media comments and live Zoom interviews with viewers.
Marraco has been with WTTG since 2014. She anchors the station’s 5 and 11 p.m. weeknight newscasts and is host of the station’s weeknight opinion program, Like It or Not. Prior to WTTG, she was a reporter for WESH Orlando, Fla. Before that, Marraco was an anchor and reporter for WVEN Orlando, Fla. She began her career in broadcasting as an intern turned news assistant at 24-hour local cable news channel NY1. A graduate of the University of Florida, Marraco holds bachelor’s degrees in both telecommunications and political science.
