KTDO El Paso Unveils New IP And Cloud-Based Facility

The new 12,000 square-foot media center features many advanced newsroom tools to improve newsgathering and content publishing across multiple platforms.

NBC Universal Local’s KTDO El Paso (Telemundo) unveiled its new, 12,000 square-foot media center yesterday, during the station’s 4 p.m. weekday edition of Noticias Telemundo 48, giving audiences an inside look at its new facility.

Featuring IP and cloud-based technology and advanced newsroom tools that improve newsgathering and content publishing across multiple platforms — built exclusively by NBCUniversal Local — at launch, KTDO’s new facility “became the most advanced TV station in the El Paso DMA (91), according to the station.

NBCUniversal Local is the division that is home to 31 Telemundo-owned stations including KTDO, 12 NBC owned stations, five NBC Regional Sports Networks and two multicast networks.

Features that will be visible to audiences include the new Noticias Telemundo 48 studio featuring a brand-new immersive 360 news set, a Weather Center surrounded by state-of-the-art LED screens, and a dedicated Sports Desk area that includes more screens to help KTDO’s sports storytelling come to life. Behind-the-scenes, the newscasts will be produced from a brand-new control room featuring cutting-edge news technology.

  • New Studio:A 360-degree set with LED screens and robotic cameras is home to KTDO’s new anchor desk, Weather Center and Sports Desk.
  • Newsroom Technology:KTDO launches with advanced newsroom tools to help increase efficiencies in news gathering, production and publishing for multiple platforms.
  • Open Space:With its bright and open newsroom area, including dedicated desk “pods” for the KTDO news team, the station’s workspace areas were designed to foster collaboration and facilitate the exchange of information.

The debut of KTDO’s new facility follows NBCUniversal Local’s unveiling of 15 other new or revamped local TV station facilities across the country.
