Mobile TV Group Launches Remote Production-Specific Mobile Unit

Mobile TV Group (MTVG), the live broadcast technology services company, today debuted its newest mobile unit, 53-RP. MTVG purpose-built this state-of-the-art mobile unit to include 1080P HDR cameras, encoding, and monitoring to cater to decentralized remote productions. This is the 53rd mobile unit built by MTVG, and the first specializing specifically in remote production.

Built inside of a 53-foot straight trailer, 53-RP allows for up to 10 on-site personnel members to work from the mobile unit. This unit is among the first large-scale capture-only systems made to connect to the cloud, central, or decentralized production hub with eight or more 1080P HDR cameras including four super slow-motion cameras.

53-RP also features four 107x lenses, a Calrec Artemis Audio Mixer, an Evertz NEXX router, and a RTS ADAM-M Matrix System. 53-RP’s premiere technology is essential to ensuring success to MTVG customers, with no room for error during a live broadcast.

“This mobile unit represents another innovative remote production workflow being implemented for some of the biggest sporting events,” said Nick Garvin, MTVG COO. “This ‘camera-only’ mobile unit is equipped with best-in-class technology, allowing for world-class image and audio quality to be produced at a remote location and distributed to fans all across the world.”

53-RP has been in action throughout the fall, covering college football for Fox Sports weekly. Fox Sports’s use of 53-RP “validates the technology and the remote production approach, and opens the door for more remote production-specific technologies to be researched, developed, and implemented,” Mobile TV Group said.

“53-RP has been a critical component of our season thus far,” said Mike Davies, executive vice president at Fox Sports. “MTVG’s expertise in remote production has shone through 53-RP and has given us the ability to give our viewers indistinguishable quality from traditionally produced shows. As partners of MTVG, we truly appreciate their expertise, technology and service for this college football season and beyond.”
