Reporter TV Extends Newsgathering Capabilities Across India With LiveU

Regional TV channel Reporter TV has selected the LiveU IP-video EcoSystem to expand its newsgathering capabilities all over India in the run-up to the 2024 Indian election and beyond. LiveU’s portable IP-video solutions will be used by the Indian Malayalam-language news channel to provide more content in nine regional languages, reaching millions of viewers on both its linear TV and digital platforms. Service and support are being provided by LiveU’s longstanding local partner, Lamhas Satellite Services.

LU800 multi-camera, field contribution encoders and LU-Smart mobile app licenses will be used by reporters across the country to deliver high-quality live news daily. LiveU’s proven resiliency, powered by the LRT (LiveU Reliable Transport) protocol, was a key decision factor together with the LU800’s multi-camera capabilities. Camera operators can cover events from multiple angles using a single unit, offering viewers a far more immersive video experience.

Anto Augustine, Reporter TV managing director, said: “We made a decision to invest in the best broadcast technology enabling us to grow our reach in Kerala and right across India. The choice of solution was simple: if we want to be the best, we need to go with the best, and we were impressed with LiveU’s quality, reliability and flexibility. Instead of covering an event with one feed, we can cover it with multiple feeds from the same location using a single unit, enabling us to offer better, more diverse programming.”

Anil Ayroor, Reporter TV president, said: “Many people want to watch the news in their own regional languages, in addition to Hindi and English. LiveU gives us the opportunity to add news stories, which are interesting to millions of people who have deep connections with the Kerala region in Southern India.”

Manoj Shah, Lamhas Satellite Services, director said: “We are delighted that Reporter TV is joining other leading broadcasters in India in selecting LiveU technology and are committed to support them as they expand their operations around the country.”
