What’s Up: Last November, Sinclair boosted its portfolio with the purchase of six stations in Nebraska formerly owned by bankrupt Pappas Telecasting for $31.25 million. The company also expanded deeper into programming with its $350 million acquisition in January of cable’s Tennis Channel.
Sinclair continued its advocacy for the next-gen TV standard, ATSC 3.0, when its tech joint venture, ONE Media, began single-frequency network tests in the Baltimore-Washington corridor this March.
The next month, the company announced formation of ONE Media 3.0 LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary, “to develop business opportunities, products and services” using the standard.
